Originally from New Jersey, as young as 17 I was enlisted into the US Navy shortly after finishing high school. During my service I achieved the rank of “Petty Officer.” serving as an Operations Specialist earning the Enlisted Surface Welfare Designation. My career led me to 16 different countries allowing me firsthand experience with all kinds of cultures, beliefs, and ways of life. After returning from deployment, my life would change forever when I was struck by a car while traveling on a motorcycle. The accident left me critical and I was told I would never walk or run again. I spent a year in “Wounded Warrior Hospital.” I had shattered bones in my left leg requiring surgical reconstruction with a rod extending into my hip, spinal fractures and a ruptured disc. During recovery I was prescribed opioids which I became dependent on and found myself struggling.

Today I am a single parent of two boys. One who has nonverbal autism. While sobriety was a major turning point for me, healing- both physical and mental- is an ongoing journey.

Yoga became more than a physical practice for me. It became a way for healing, growth and purpose.
